A respected high-end residential landscape design-build company in Napa is hiring an experienced Design-Build Project Manager to run its projects from preconstruction through close-out. The company plans and builds hardscape, planting, and irrigation for residential clients, with dedicated Installation and Maintenance divisions. Its installation and maintenance work has earned more than a dozen regional industry awards over two decades.
This role is onsite in Napa and spends regular time on job sites.
Role SummaryYou own the planning, execution, and completion of the company's design-build projects, delivering them on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards. You work closely with the Lead Install Account Manager, the Installation and Maintenance divisions, and subcontractors, build strong client relationships through regular updates, and give the Operations Manager feedback on crew capabilities to support continuous improvement.
Key Outcomes- Projects start ready. Preconstruction package reviews confirm every requirement is understood and properly sequenced before crew leaders, equipment, materials, and subcontractors mobilize across multiple job sites.
- Schedules hold. Labor and equipment allocation, subcontractor timelines, deliveries, and procurement line up with project milestones, and utility locates are scheduled as California job sites require.
- Jobs hit the numbers. Estimated versus actual hours and materials stay within 5%, labor, material, and subcontractor costs are tracked and reported, and daily work orders and timesheets in Crew Mobile or Aspire stay current.
- Labor reviews sharpen every job. Regular reviews of over and under performance and revenue recognition improve cost tracking and profitability.
- Scope stays under control. You monitor scope, manage change orders proactively with Sales, and make sure clients hear about scope changes.
- Crews go home safe. A zero-injury culture holds at no more than one lost-time injury, backed by weekly safety meetings and monthly vehicle and job site inspections.
- The team grows and stays. Department retention holds at 85% or better, one or more crew members advance into lead roles each year, and labor backlog and headcount forecasts keep resources allocated across projects.
- Work meets the standard and closes clean. Routine site visits uphold quality in hardscape, planting, irrigation, and subcontractor work, irrigation installation is overseen on every job, and close-out walkthroughs, documentation, and Maintenance handoffs are complete.
- 5+ years of experience in landscape project management.
- Irrigation Auditor, ReScape, or other relevant industry certifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and project management software (Crew Mobile or Aspire).
- The ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and communicate clearly with clients and teams.
- The ability to lift at least 30 pounds and work on various job sites.
- A bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Project Management, Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, or a related field is preferred.
- Salary of $130,000 to $180,000 depending on experience.
- Full-time, onsite in Napa, California, with a benefits package.
