About the Opportunity

A builder of luxury custom estates on the San Francisco Peninsula, in business for decades and working alongside leading architects, designers, and owners. Its superintendents are senior and seasoned, and the company is hiring now to train its next superintendents. Every home is held to a high standard of detail, and the field team owns that standard.

Role Summary

The Junior Superintendent is paired with a senior superintendent on a high-end custom home on the Peninsula and reports to the Director of Construction. You learn the superintendent job by doing it, from the daily report to the punch list. The role is built to grow into the full Superintendent position, and the company treats it as a long-term investment in you.

Key Outcomes
  • A jobsite record the whole team trusts. Daily reports, field change order tracking, and as-built documentation kept current every day.
  • A three-week look-ahead the crews can build from. Layout, scheduling, the weekly update, and the carpenter and labor schedule, worked out alongside your superintendent.
  • RFIs answered before they stop work. Develop and distribute RFIs and track each one through the log to an answer.
  • A safe site, every week. Run the safety tailgate meetings, collect signatures, and correct hazards to OSHA standards.
  • Inspections that pass on schedule. Coordinate city permit inspections and special testing, and keep the signed-off permit cards in order.
  • Subcontractors working to the builder's standard. Coordinate trades and suppliers on site and help run the site team meetings.
  • A clean closeout. Manage the punch list and turn over a complete as-built set when the home is done.
  • Growth toward running a project. Take on more of the superintendent role as you prove it, with a senior superintendent teaching you along the way.
What You'll Bring
  • Field experience on high-end residential construction, as an assistant superintendent, a project engineer who wants to be in the field, or a foreman or lead carpenter who wants to become a superintendent.
  • Reads plans and specifications well.
  • Works in Procore (plans, submittals, RFIs) and Bluebeam, keeps a clean schedule in Microsoft Project, and is comfortable in Outlook, Word, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Talks easily with owners and architects. Custom homes run on relationships, so commercial builders are welcome if they want that client contact.
  • Writes clearly enough to run an RFI log and a daily report.
  • Wants to stay in the field and wants to be taught. The pairing works when you are eager to learn from someone with decades in the trade.
