Fishing Off the Dock

You need a new project manager. You need them now.

So, you do the smart thing. You pull out your phone. You call the people you know. You text a few industry friends.

This is a good move. It is fast. It is free. And it feels safe because you trust these people.

But after three calls, you run out of names. The well goes dry.

This does not mean you are bad at networking. It just means you hit a biological wall.

The Limit of Your Circle There is a rule called Dunbar’s Number. A scientist found that humans can only keep up with about 150 relationships at once.

This circle includes your family. It includes your friends. It includes the people you work with today.

When you hire from your phone contacts, you are fishing in that small circle.

Shallow Water vs. Deep Water Think of your personal network like a dock on a lake.

When you cast your line off the dock, you might catch a fish. You might even catch a good one. But you can only reach the fish that are swimming right in front of you.

If the trophy fish is swimming in the middle of the lake, you will never catch it from the dock.

Most construction leaders fish from the dock. They hire the people who are close by. This works for a while. But eventually, you catch all the fish near the shore.

To build a truly great team, you need to go where the big fish are. You have to leave the dock.

We Take the Boat Out You do not have time to sail into the deep water. You have projects to build.

That is where we come in.

We are professional matchmakers. We do not just stand on the dock. We go out into the deep water every day. We talk to the people who are not in your phone. We find the top talent that never swims near the shore.

Your network is a great place to start. But it is a hard place to finish.

Let us go deep for you.
